The DIGIC 4 Image Processor is Canon’s most advanced image processor and features evolved Face Detection Technology that keeps every face in every photo looking its very best by tracking the faces of moving subjects and letting the photographer jump into the pic seamlessly with the Face Detection Self-Timer. In addition, exposure, flash and white balance are compensated, so that faces exhibit natural skin tones and backgrounds are properly exposed.
DIGIC 4 also includes i-Contrast (Intelligent Contrast Correction) system, which adjusts the compensation level in pixels to brighten dark areas without effecting brighter areas so you can capture better shots when the main subject is darker. You can even use i-Contrast in playback mode to tweak images that were shot without the setting activated.
The Face Detection Timer automatically tracks an increase in the number of faces in a frame so there’s no need to rush in for a timed picture.
